Camping Birkelt
Ardennen, Vianden and Clervaux
The entirely restored castle of Vianden is the pearl of the Ardennes which is a heritage of the Royal Dutch Oranje-Nassau dynasty. During his exile, Victor Hugo inhabited a house in this picturesque medieval village. Today Vianden is a touristic town with a number of rustic cafés and restaurants, a Victor Hugo museum, a dolls and toys museum, an impressive water power plant, a chairlift with a stunning view and its infamous nut market in early October. In the summer the grand medieval festival takes place.
Clervaux is known for the St. Maurits abbey on top of this Ardennes town. A must during visit is the Family of Man Photogallery by Edward Steichen in the town castle and the Museum of the Battle for the Ardennes, which draw many visitors each year.
